This Lent I'm inviting you to a season of WONDER. By this I mean to pull back from the regular 24/7 input we get from TV, news, internet, Netflix, YouTube, X, Instagram, Facebook, etc. and experience the "wonder' of what is going on.
For example: I wonder what is going on in politics. I wonder what drama is happening on X or Instagram. I wonder what my favorite celebrity is doing? Hmm... I don't know what is going on because I have taken a break.
Take the 6 weeks of Lent and take a break from the constant input. I promise that all the drama you usually consume will still be there after Lent. I do hope, though, that after 6 weeks of pulling back, you might find you don't need it quite so much.
Simplifying for Lent, Fr. Drake
Below are some resources to help you refocus and reconnect:
EWTN News Nightly This is a great Catholic nightly news video program to keep you connected to national, global and Church events. If there is anything important, it will be on this program. It won't have all the he-said-she-said, but most of that is not important. It runs Monday – Friday and takes the weekends off, which is good for us. It is available on your cable TV and on YouTube. Watch EWTN News Nightly Catholic Talk Radio Knowing that you will want to listen to something while you drive or go on a walk, there are two great Catholic radio options for you. EWTN Radio 97.9 FM WAOB Radio 106.7 FM
EWTN radio has contemporary talk programs covering news, apologetics, family, Mass and more. Our very own Greg and Lisa Popcak can be heard every day at 10am. "EWTN radio is why I'm Catholic today. Literally!" Fr. Drake Listen Online (also free on Apple Music, iHeart without subscription)
WAOB Radio is more contemplative with Mass, prayer, the teaching of the bishops, discussions and reflections. This is great to listen to if you're wanting something that is more like a retreat on the radio. "This Lent, I have made it my goal to keep a book by my bedside, in my car and in my office so that if I am ever in need of a break, instead of grabbing my phone or computer, I grab the book." Fr. Drake
You'll find something on just about any topic.
Check out the library and check out a book! You'll have to do this in person : )
